Elvis' Hammer in Sand Flats, Moab UtahArriving on the top of a summit is often more satisfying than stopping part way up a cliff.  It's just not quite as casual as throwing down a rope bag and hanging out at the base.  No, on towers you're off the ground for the duration of the climb, so you get that aerial view and feel more exposed.

Then there's route-finding, which is not always so obvious and not always the way you want to go!

Anchors don't always exist, which means nothing to some people, but for others it means a little more work and uncertainty.

Getting down usually requires two or three rappels, if not more.  Yeah, and don't get your rope stuck.

So, overall, you do have to work harder, there's a little more at stake and the reward is that much greater because of it all.  That's the appeal to tower climbing.  Spending a little more time to get to the top of a summit is well worth the investment.

Come by Pagan Mountaineering and we'll help add to your tower tick list.  Plus we'll have ideas for which towers to start with, what's easiest, closest and which gear to make sure you bring.
